Bio:
Lola Sánchez, 23 years old, is licensed in Mass Media Communication
by the University of Malaga, Spain. From childhood she has had a special interest
in the world of photography. But it was in the first year of her studies at
university that her passion started showing.
She has taken several courses in photography and has attended numerous seminars.
These included training in the dark room of the university and collaborations
with some of the Malaga newspapers.
She has taken part in several collective exhibitions, and has been a finalist
in the contest " Malaga Crea " in 2004.
Nowadays she is employed in Madrid as a graphic designer and collaborates
with the cinema producer " NYSU FILMS " in the filming of video-clips.
She now presents her last two works in England, realized during her stay through
the “Leonardo da Vinci" programme in Loughborough between February
and May 2006.
With these two exhibitions she tries to show the visual impact that England
provoked in her, as well as her gratitude to the organization "Charnwood
Arts" for encouraging artistic creation among young people.

“DOORS IN MY MIND”
It is difficult to guess how the mind is formed. I hardly know what exists
in mine.
My grandmother and I were big friends, I usually told her every secret I had.
She told me she put them in a little room she had in her head, and there,
she locked them so that nobody could take them out.
Now, I use the doors that I imagine I’ve got inside my head, in order
not to be driven crazy in certain moments.
Some of them contain memories, others, some feelings, and a few, secrets.
Sometime these open at the same time, but there are some other doors that
never seem to open.
But every door that is in my mind makes up the person I am, and the person
who is writing now.
“CASTLES IN THE SKY”
“An unreal born space of my daily life in England”
To change city is a great step… to change country an even greater one…
My stay in England has marked me with a new aesthetic sense… that it
has been composed by its geography, its people, its weather, but especially
by its architecture.
Every day, on my way to work and from work to my house, I saw the same buildings,
so different from my native Spanish architecture.
And they seem to me as if extracted from a fairy tale, because of their forms
and colours…
For this reason I started playing with the English architecture, and I created
the “Castles in the sky” series.
I made impossible structures. Buildings perfectly closed as if they could
float on the air.
But also I would like it to be a game for the citizens of the area, in which,
as they will discover, a building of their neighbourhood can turn into a fairytale
castle.
