"Putting Up A Veil"
“Women in India are the mirror of the country itself. It's hanging between third-world mediocracy and post-modern Capitalism, leading to a dualist society of malls and slums in close proximity. The women exactly fit into this socio-cultural fabric where some earn their living and some remain behind the purdahs of their overtly traditional and chauvinistic society. This picture, shot at Sagar Island, West Bengal, India, is an effort of mine to aesthetically capture the state of those who are behind such VEILS.”
