Kent and his wife Pauline opened the shop in Wards End in 1976 selling high class ladies and gents shoes. Kent worked in Basil Smith's menswear shop that was adjacent to the Natwest Bank in the Cattle Market and then in Granby Street until 1972. That year saw them managing the Cottage Door boutique in Swan Street until the move to Wards End where they remain today.
