John and Jacqui Gallon took over the Book Company in 1998. John having been in the book trade since 1963 working at Foyle's of London, eventually became the Manager of the university book supplies department. Jacqui was a schoolteacher teaching English before joining the Oxford University Press in 1995, moving to the Book Company in 1998. This small shop is Loughborough's only independent bookshop having four rooms of books located on two floors stocking new, second hand and bargain books. It has an effective book searching system together with fast ordering, if it's a book that's available somewhere they usually can find it. Large stocks of local history books are always available.
