Colin Ward's grandfather Jonathan opened his butcher's shop at No.4 Moor Lane in 1916. His son Norman who was born there served his apprenticeship at Hassenfus pork butchers in Wards End, and on his father's death took over the business. In the mid-sixties the two grandsons Graham and Colin joined the family concern. Colin and his wife Sue now have the business, buying beef and lambs from a local farm, which Colin slaughters, but not on the premises now. Sue makes the hand made pies of all types on the premises that are then sold in the shop, as well as preparing the various types of cooked meats for sale.
