John Aston: "Scene of Solitude" It can be difficult to find a moment of solitude and self contemplation in the frantic and busy Loughborough Town. It swarms with life on the busy market days and it becomes overrun with lairy students after sunset. Therefore a scene of such serenity and calmness can be rare to find. The figure is deep in contemplation and reflection which is encapsulated by the two churches in the background; places that aid people to reflect and gain understanding. The black and white nature of the photograph helps to emphasise the serenity of the scene and the character's solitude; and also gives softness to the scene. We all have a place like this; somewhere that we like to escape to as a break from the rigours of daily life and routine and all the stresses that it entails.
