Claire Winstanley :
In the early 1900s who would have thought Nelson's Inn would now be Dorothy Perkins? Would Walter C. Burder have expected his home, Field House to now house Burliegh Community College Students?

I wanted to see if Loughborough had always been this way, or if it had changed beyond all belief and recognition. I feel I have uncovered unexpected aspects of daily life dating back to the 19 th century. I created my layered digital images by uncovering photographs of Loughborough from days gone by (from the late 1800s through to the 1960s) and teaming them with my own snapshots of Loughborough today. The ambiguous nature of the images allows the viewer to explore them in order to re-discover recognisable places, while experiencing a moment in the life of a neighbour from bygone times. Uncovering a lost or hidden characteristic to our town helps us to understand and appreciate how we function within in it as a community now.
