The Shining
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.

Shantaben. Mother of three... rag picker and proud of it, although struggling to make ends meet. She assertively questioned me about the purpose of my interest in her and others like her. She granted me permission to take her picture on the basis that the images would be used to help their situation. Shantaben earns approximately 70rupees per day to support her children's needs. Her children are educated, through her encouragement. She is a shining example of one of thousands of rag pickers in Ahmedabad.
