"In Loughborough Town Market Place stands an impressive bronze statue. The seated male figure is naked except for a traditionally pattered knitted sock on the foot of its protruding horizontal LEFT LEG.
Created by the sculptor, Shona McLintock, the"Sockman" celebrates Loughborough's association with the earlier hosiery trade.
The simplified human form, with its powerful and dominant raised horizontal LEFT LEG, seems to cast a mysterious and compelling influence over some of the people in the surrounding area... see next."
