"The John Taylor Bell Foundry is the largest working bell foundry in the world. Loughborough's Taylor Eayre & Smith Bellfoundry moved to Loughborough from Oxford in 1839. The foundry cast the largest bell in the UK - Great Paul (the largest bell in Britain) at St Paul's Cathedral in London in 1881. It has recently cast bells for Ashby De La Zouch, Northhampton All Saints, Treinity Church New York, Campton Bedfordshire, Lancaster Priory, Cliffe at Hoo Kent, Lawitton Cornwall, Settle, Tugwell and various places in Australia.
In the museum, Taylor's Bellfoundry, has created a permanent record of the company and the industry, telling the story of bellfounding through the ages. An extensive range of exhibits and memorabilia tells the story of one of the oldest manufacturing industries in the world. A visit to the museum may be enhanced by a tour of the foundry and the works. This is especially exciting at the time of bell casting."
