“Jack and the Beanstalk”
One of the great traditions of an English Christmas is the annual pantomime,
enacted in village halls and theatres across the country this quintessential
English tradition is actually Italian in origin. Panto has created a host
of internal traditions…a woman as the principle boy, a man as the principle
Dame…..jokes that run and run and run…..watch out for ‘tomorrow
never comes’ in this year’s fare!
These images were taken at various stages of the progression of the panto.
From first read through, initial choreography and rehearsal to a foray by
the performers into the Christmas Light Switch On in the Market Place, Tech
Rehearsal and the full dress rehearsal.
There are so many elements involved in the logistics of putting on a show
like this – the biggest annual undertaking of Loughborough Town Hall
to be a producing house. Fantastically popular the show was a delight to watch
in its formative stages and to witness the great fun and professionalism of
the cast and all support staff in pulling it together.
